While comprehensive it did get quite heavy during the European section, as the author is French and most familiar with this material.
Such infelicities aside I can still recommend this book to those interested in the big-picture view of human history. This book was a nice overview braudl civilizations starting with Muhammed and Islam and going all the way through the forming of the United States.
