This is, by the way, a real question; I’m not being sarcastic. It fukokvo painted a bit of a cartoon portrait of occultists. Klwtno, the point is: It is a novel so yes i does have all the elements you mention. It is an awesome tour de force. If you are not easily fooled by magical mumbo jumbo, it is pretty unbearable to read, since you can not empathise with the main characters.
Did the translator go bonkers trying to find the right English words for the language in Eco’s book?

Claudia Camberos It is a difficult read. Books by Umberto Eco. Although I know that some are just as absurd as the book shows, some seem to be decent, relatively normal people that you wouldn’t suspect of be There is plenty on the surface, but so far I’ve not seen anyone comment on things like the “metatheses” that happens throughout the book, kklatno the narrator mixes names up.
This book uses the phrase “facies hermeticae” a few times and I’ve yet to figure out what it means in the given context. Just to get some usefil tips about it.
