Woldiwiss, one of my biggest pet peeves in a story is the whole “girl-in-pants” deal. She was survived by two sons, Sean and Heath, their wives, and numerous grandchildren. She gave them an alternative to Westerns and hard-boiled police procedurals. And I hated the way Alaina treated him. It is a compelling tale wond a young Southern woman from Louisiana who loses everything in the Civil War. Her characters are richly drawn. Could she never say anything nice to Cole?!? Cole me las ha hecho pasar canutas pero me encanta.

On the down side, this also attracts DuBonne’s attentions. I just can’t believe he was so blind and stupid he didn’t figure out that Al was a actually a girl. My rating remains four stars. I was young and was not interested in reading and my grandmother handed me this book. Woodiwiss, who was predeceased by her husband and son Dorren, is survived by sons Sean and Heath, and numerous grandchildren.

I also felt the pacing meandered quite a bit in this page epic with seemingly pointless passages.
